What's My Approach to Therapy?
If you are exhausted by the pace of the world and the pressure you are under, feel like you are falling apart inside while desperately trying to push through for the sake of responsibilities or loved ones, or if you are overwhelmed by internal criticalness, conflict, and distressing emotions, or barely handling the external noise and conditions you exist in, I welcome you to my practice. I believe healing happens in connection and witnessing, in being seen and truly known. For me, impactful therapy work does not lie in managing your stress, strategizing your life, or in figuring out how to stop numbing, escaping, or fleeing your reality and pain. Instead, the work is in finding your way home to yourself, building trust and safety with yourself. The rest falls into place when you experience true healing.
Everything you need to do this work is already inside of you, but I find it is most accessible in a calming, warm, and safe environment. As your therapist, I gently guide you in being with and tending to the frustration, fear, sadness, anger, grief, numbness, or the shaky vulnerability that comes from the lingering touch and memory of trauma. Therapy with me is a sacred time to pause, to breathe, to listen, to heal, and to rest. The door is open to everything you are and anything you bring, nothing is turned away. We hold curiosity toward whatever has been too much to face or hold onto, too shameful to look at, or too likely to overwhelm or drown you. Within our work, you will come to see these in a new light. You will find at the heart of all that you have been trying to fight against or run away from, that has kept you stuck and feeling helpless, is the pain and vulnerability that you never healed. If these words and ideas strike a chord or align with your goals for therapy, I would love to work with you.
I often work with people who feel they have tried every coping skill and solution they have been taught, and are still struggling. Those just starting to seek out help or who have tried therapy for years without lasting and meaningful changes. Maybe you have felt shattered or defeated for as long as you can remember, or maybe it is a new realization that you are approaching a breaking point, but if you are at a place in your life where you find you do not know yourself anymore, or cannot remember who you were before all this stress. If there are pieces or parts of you that are missing or forgotten long ago, I invite you to experience a therapy that is compassionate, holistic, understanding, and seeks to bring you back to yourself.
My therapeutic process is based in principles, philosophies, and guided healing practices from internal family systems therapy (I am an internal family systems therapist, Level One trained by the IFS Institute) and narrative therapy. I also utilize practices of mindfulness, somatic body work, and other practices that are concerned with compassion, acceptance, and being in relationship with yourself and in alignment with your values. Even if you do not feel ready for the full journey of parts work, I can tailor my skills to fit your present wants and needs for therapy. I am a queer therapist and specialize in working with LGBTQI2S, asexual spectrum, polyamorous, queer individuals, as well as those who identify with or have traits of neurodivergence. I resonate most with clients of diverse or complex identities, ethnicities, or backgrounds, but I am honored to work with any adult individual. I guide healing work in grief, complex trauma, posttraumatic stress (PTSD), attachment wounds, unhealthy patterns, and connect with clients' depression, anxiety, dissociation, obsessive-compulsive challenges, and addictive cycles in ways that bring relief and healing.
