My Approach to Helping
Each person is different, and we are all alike. In 27 years of practice I have learned that being present with each person in the way most suited to that person is what gets results. My theory and technique is varied depending on the person and the particular needs and situation. I meet the client where she/he is and work from there, at the client's pace, towards whatever goals she/he may have. This may mean short-term work of a few weeks or months or it may mean long-term work of many months or years as needed. Most of my work is about recovery: from depression, trauma, and addiction. Therapy often means grief work and working through attachment and separation issues within the therapy relationship. I work with people from all backgrounds--race, ethnicity, class, sexual orientation.
