My Approach to Helping
Growing up was difficult for me, I probably needed counseling but never knew it was an option. I became interested in Substances and Alcohol with no other outlet to find. Finally after 40 years of life experiences I decided to make my life one of giving back.
I decided to help others struggling with substance abuse and alcoholism. This is when I found out I had some mental health issues that had to be dealt with. Therapy was the best way to get relief and finally lose the need for other ways to self-medicate.
Mental health was my new focus and I started going to school. That was in 1997; fast forward to 2016 I was ready to put my dream of helping others to work.
I specialize in using CBT, Person Centered, Choice Therapy, Mindfulness, Solution Focused modalities.
I am a member of the LGBTQ community and work well with this community as well as with African American Issues and others disenfranchised people. Women’s issues are also high on my list, but I am a open door therapist and if you have a need, I am here to support YOU!
