My Approach to Helping

***I work with individuals and couples who are locked in repetitive emotional cycles that are difficult to understand and difficult to break out of. I will help you express the underlying longings and needs you have for more intimacy and closeness with others. ** I provide a positive, mindful, solution oriented environment where you can explore and manage the stress that comes with living a real life. Your stress may be triggered by overwork, job loss, relationship issues or by more positive things like getting married or having a child. We will work together so you can develop new insights, learn to relax more and create a balanced outlook. ***You can learn to communicate more effectively, to pursue the life you want to live, to increase your tolerance for change, and to accept the things that can't be changed. I will give you a place to practice new skills in session, including practicing acceptance of yourself, other people and our human condition. ***I support women and men who want to develop better relationships with the important people in their lives. You can use me as a sounding board to find out what's going wrong and how to be more connected with others.***I offer Pre-marital Counseling for couples who are getting married for the 1st, the 2nd or the 3rd time and want to learn from the mistakes of a prior relationship. You can use this time to learn new skills and become more open with your partner so you can both make this relationship a success. We can work on improving communication at the emotional as well as the practical level.

My normal fee is $120 for a 60 minute session for individuals or couples, a Sliding Scale is also available when needed. How Psychotherapy Can Help

Therapy with me allows you to say exactly what you are thinking about, afraid of, or noticing that may be getting in your way with other people, on the job or at home. We can work together to help you learn skills and practice expressing yourself clearly and calmly so that others can hear you without becoming reactive. You can also learn to be a better listener and friend to yourself. Therapy can help you be more mindful about what you say to yourself and how you treat yourself inside your own thoughts. Most of us need to learn to have more compassion for ourselves as well as for the people around us. Psychotherapy can help you truly understand that none of us are perfect and we never will be.
