My Approach to Helping
Valerie Taylor, LCPC takes an honest, supportive approach to help clients learn the skills they need to help them better cope with their struggles. She approaches each client as an individual and tailors goals and treatments based on their needs.
She offers therapy services for adolescents to adults of all ages. She specializes in depression and anxiety, relationship issues, and family conflict. Valerie is especially skilled at:
Self-Exploration: Knowing exactly who you are can be difficult to discover on your own and can seem daunting. Valerie opens her office to you when you need to develop that confidence in yourself. It’s important to know and love yourself.
College Student Support: The transition from high school to college is a large step. Valerie can help you through that transition to find the optimal time management, coach you through socializing, and depression and anxiety issues you may be having.
Mindfulness for Life Skills: Valerie offers the unique experience to practice mindfulness to improve your life skills. Different life skills she has seen results with are socialization, sleep patterns, and sleep hygiene.
In therapy, Valerie uses different therapeutic approaches for each person, such as dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), and mindfulness. Everyone has a unique experience that she wants to make sure is addressed. If traditional talk therapy isn’t ideal for you, Valerie is dedicated to find what you need.
She earned her MS from Northern Illinois University and has experience in both inpatient and outpatient mental health. Off the clock, Valerie loves the outdoors, photography, and connecting with nature.
