I provide a safe, trusting environment where people can explore their painful feelings, understand where they come from and learn ways to effectively manage these emotions. I believe in helping people understand the way in which their past relationships, especially early childhood impacts their current relationships. People often develop negative self images based on early childhood relationships. I help people identify those negative beliefs and attitudes and develop healthy, positive self images. In addition, I help people change ineffective interpersonal behaviors, so they can have satisfying adult relationships. I teach people effective communication skills. I teach couples how to understand each other's needs and desires. I help adolescents express their confusion and create a future they are passionate about. Mostly, I help people know themselves first and transfer that knowledge to creating and maintain relationships they flourish in.

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist
I love the relationship. I am honored that people will enter into the psychotherapy relationship and begin to trust me in the process. It is through this growing relationship that people heal and develop satisfying, rich relationships. The trust and compassion they receive in the process allows them to recreate that experience with others.
What I Say to People Concerned about the Therapy Process
The psychotherapy process can be a scary endeavor for people to begin. I assure people that I will go at the pace that feels most comfortable. I will monitor their coping abilities and proceed slowly when necessary. I am compassionate and work with empathy and deep respect for peoples individual journey. I will invite them to inform me about how the process feels often and encourage feedback and requests. I offer additional sessions if we decide overwhelm is happening. I assure them we are in this process together.
