My counseling practice is one of a creative and integrative approach that incorporates play therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, art therapy, mindfulness and other holistic and person-centered therapies that work with treating individuals and families.

It is important that I use an approach that helps the individual and family focus on their strengths to foster a path towards success and gain an inner strength to make changes in their behavior. When beginning the therapeutic process a positive relationship is formed where my client feels safe, accepted and free to express themselves.

When working with children, I like to incorporate time with family, parents or guardians as part of the therapeutic process. It is important to share the treatment plans and goals as well as hearing and providing feedback on the therapy process. Working together as a team fosters growth and change in a positive direction.

More Info About My Practice

My passion is working with children, adolescents, young adults and families presenting with a variety of issues, including depression, anxiety, ADHD, autism spectrum, learning and behavioral disabilities, and trauma. I also have experience in treating individuals with developmental delays and cognitive impairments.

Through 25 years of teaching, I have learned from my students as they learned from me. The knowledge gained will continue to help me work with children in a school and clinical setting. I have worked with a culturally diverse population. These experiences have taught me how to be culturally responsive and sensitive.

I believe all children can learn if given the chance and taught in a manner that one can be successful. This also holds true with my counseling philosophy of using an integrative approach that adheres to a holistic style of mental, emotional and spiritual health.
