My Approach to Helping
I believe life is meant to be lived to its fullest. It includes highs and lows along the journey, but sometimes we come to a place where we can't seem to shake the low. I work with people to help them identify what is holding them back from living life fully. While I have spent many years working with individuals and couples, I have found that everyone is unique; as a result, I enjoy the process of customizing each session to what works specifically for you in your situation. This approach allows me to help people who are dealing with what they may consider minor set backs, as well as those who have a lifetime of abuse that they are wanting to overcome.
How Psychotherapy Can Help
Getting an outside perspective on any situation is priceless. No matter how skilled or trained we are, there will always be a blindside. Sometimes that added perspective allows for a small tune-up that gets us back to living life. Other times it provides insight into deep wounds that need to be healed so we can walk with purpose again.
Had a Negative Therapy Experience?
If you have attempted to seek help in the past and therapy only made it worse, it becomes extremely difficult to want to try it again. I see previous counseling as an absolute positive even if it was a terrible experience because it will still provide the groundwork for moving forward. The experiences we have to shape us; however, how we understand and interpret those experiences is what makes us who we are.
If you have had a bad experience with counseling in the past, I would encourage you to keep working at it. You are worth it.
