My Approach to Helping
Awareness and compassion are essential ingredients that I incorporate into my practice to create a trusting and comfortable atmosphere for insight, growth and meaningful change. You will find my therapeutic approach is geared towards treating the whole person. My goal is to make therapy a unique and personally tailored experience for each individual, couple, and family. My primary method of treatment is cognitive-behavioral therapy. This modality challenges irrational, confusing or negative thought patterns and replaces them with healthier (more positive) ones while predominantly focussing on the here and now.
More Info About My Practice
Prior to becoming a therapist, I worked as a Director of Human Resources in the high-tech sector, giving me a unique perspective on what it takes to balance work and life. Additionally, I sit on a number of non-profit Boards and spend a considerable amount of time volunteering in the community. I also have extensive experience working with couples, families, individuals and teens. I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who sees clients throughout the Silicon Valley.
How Psychotherapy Can Help
There are many ways you can benefit from therapy. You will find my therapeutic approach is geared towards treating the whole person? What this means is that I will work with you and not just your symptoms. By coming to therapy, you will learn certain skills and strategies to not only address the issue you want to work on but also address your overall well being.
It's also important to note that you don't need a psychological disorder to attend therapy. Many clients come to therapy because they're looking for personal or spiritual growth. It's a way of taking time out of their very busy life to work with someone who is dedicated to helping them discover and become their best self!
On the Fence About Going to Therapy?
I understand you're wondering if therapy will help? Maybe you've talked to a few friends and still don't have the answers you're looking for. For many, deciding to come to therapy can be intimidating, worrisome and even scary. So let me try to put your mind at ease. First and foremost, I'm not here to judge you! My role is to help you make sense of whatever is going on in your life at the moment. I'll never ask you to talk about something you're not comfortable talking about. And, believe it or not, I'm not a mind reader. Your role is to bring an open mind and a willingness to look at your situation from a different perspective. The answers to your problems are within your grasp. My job is to help you find them!
What I Say to People Concerned about the Therapy Process
During your first session I will meet with you to help you identify issues you want to work on in therapy and goals to be accomplished. Some clients come to therapy ready to get to work. Other clients may need more time to decide if I am the right person to help them move forward. Either way, my goal is to meet you where you're at. I believe that trust is earned by allowing you to go at your own pace.
