I have completed a Post Master's Degree in Marriage and Family therapy in 2000. I have been doing work with couples and families for over 18 years. This work has been related to clients in a variety of contexts from issues with their childrenteens to couples who need to work out issues in their relationships. I find this work both very rewarding and exciting because I feel that the family is the source of our greatest joy and occasionally our greatest pain. When these relationships are not working it is very important to put them back into balance for everyone involved to be at their emotional best and the unit to function well again. I have many years of experience in helping with these issues and would be happy to schedule at time to for an assessment of what is happening in your family.
I have also completed a training as a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional to help those who have suffered with traumatic incidents in their lives. Much of my career I have worked with victims of trauma as adults, children, and adult survivors of childhood trauma. This has been across many settings including forensic, hospitals, residential, outpatient, survivors groups, etc. I have educated myself on the current literature on the most evidenced based interventions for trauma related treatment, specifically PTSD, Anxiety, and other associated disorders. It is very important to understand that treatment has come a long way and no longer is it recommended that difficult retelling of trauma is necessary. Much more relaxed approaches are available to make treatment an easier process.

The most important factor for choosing a therapist is finding someone you feel comfortable with and who you feel you can be honest with. Trust is something that happens as you feel heard and understood. It happens when you don't feel judged or criticized. It happens when you are respected and treated like an equal, not a patient. There are many evidence based treatment approaches that work but first your voice must be heard and your goals must be priority.
