My Approach to Helping
In a safe space, I help those struggling with depression, anxiety, relational stress, trauma, chronic pain or life transitions. With compassion, mindful presence and a shared humanity, I integrate psychoeducation, cognitive therapy, relaxation training, mindfulness, EMDR, positive psychology and behavior activation to help you find hope, healing and real change.
As a psychotherapist, I believe whole-heartedly in the importance of the therapeutic relationship. Therefore, I want to do my utmost to establish a sense of trust, connection and shared understanding both in the beginning and throughout the duration of treatment. “People don’t care what you know until they know that you care” and therefore I want to make you not just know that I care but truly “feel” it in your bones. My desire for all of the individuals that I work with is that they can cultivate a deeper meaning and understanding of the issues that are bringing them into this sacred space while also finding practical and effective ways to confront and navigate the challenges that they are struggling with. I prefer to invite and guide rather than direct you in this process, helping you to truly embrace your inner-wisdom and inner-healer along the way. I believe that many of the challenges we face are within our capacity to handle and at times we will need some support, guidance and education along the way, similar to how a midwife helps the individual to better move through something they are already designed to do.
Life is a garden, having the potential to bring joy as we grow. In the right conditions, it can truly thrive. Like a garden, life can bring struggles that leave us stunted in our growth. At times, we need help tending the weeds that overshadow the joy in our life. Our struggles are best resolved when we treat the roots and nurture new growth.
