I have found that when a person is given the ability to be completely themselves, in a safe space, that does not judge, transformative experiences can occur. My therapeutic style is warm and open; and, my hope is that through collaboration and support, together we can determine reasonable solutions to provide you relief.

I find I tend to incorporate both psychodynamic and humanistic approaches in my work. For me this means, that it is important to connect to our inner world and our unconscious; but, also to find balance, by embracing ourselves in our conscious lives as individuals. Further, I feel that you should be viewed as a whole person, who is made up a multitude of gifts, talents, and strengths that are meaningful and important; not just you in the context of one identified issue or problem.

As I tailor my services to meet your specific needs, activities such as meditation, journaling and bibliotherapy may be introduced, in order to help bring conscious and unconscious elements into balance in your life. There is no one type of therapy, and, I believe that your experience should be as unique as you are.

I also have extensive experience working with clients with Borderline Personality Disorder and offer DBT and Harm Reduction therapies as needed. My work with adolescents, particularly teen girls, centers on coming of age issues: self-esteem, communication skill building, stress management, and academic under-achievement.

How Psychotherapy Can Help

Therapy can be beneficial in many ways. For example: it can provide support and balance when life circumstances have made you feel overwhelmed, it can enhance communication and problem-solving skills that allow you to repair and deepen your relationships with others, and it can increase coping strategies for issues such as anxiety, depression and stress which may at times make our lives seem completely unmanageable.

Depending on your particular needs and goals for treatment, engaging in the therapeutic process can lead to a deeper understanding of self, allow you to break the cycles of negative behaviors and patterns, and assist you in attaining higher levels of self-confidence and self-efficacy.
