My Approach to Helping
Tashanee is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) who graduated from CUNY Hunter College with a Master of Science in Education (M.S. Ed) in Mental Health Counseling. As an eclectic therapist, Tashanee’s style adapts to the unique needs of each specific client, depending on their problem, treatment goals, and expectations. Her areas of specialization include person-centered, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Psychoanalytic, and Adlerian approaches; she also occasionally incorporates DBT.
Tashanee has extensive experience working in clinical settings with culturally diverse populations of children, adolescents, and adults. She is a supporter and advocate of LGBTQ individuals and uses varying therapeutic interventions to support individuals who struggle with depression, anxiety, PTSD, mood disorders, schizophrenia spectrum disorders, substance abuse, and ADHD.
Tashanee brings thoughtfulness, compassion, and even a bit of humor to her therapeutic approaches which she thinks has a tremendous influence on the therapeutic relationship and effectiveness of treatment. She believes that treatment should be autonomous and collaborative with the client, incorporating their core values and beliefs to achieve their personal goals. Treatment should always bring a sense of relief and empowerment after each session. Most importantly sessions should be a safe space to be heard, supported, and guided to a more fulfilling lifestyle.
