My Approach to Helping
My Philosophy: My approach to counseling is guided by the values and principles of psychiatric rehabilitation; which in essence, honors and respects the dignity, rights, strengths, uniqueness, and beauty in all individuals. The healing process is rooted in establishing a foundation of trust, hope, and safety. Once the foundation is laid is when the healing can begin. I use an eclectic approach which is comprised of techniques backed by empirical evidence; such as, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectic Behavioral interventions, Mindfulness, Relaxation techniques, Talk and Play Therapy, Behavioral, and Solution Focused Interventions to facilitate the healing process. The desired outcome is the emersion of the “authentic” best version of self.
More About Me: I love life, my family, people, all livings things, and nature. I look for and see the beauty and mysticism in all creation. I am always on a quest to learn and grow because I believe once the curiosity dims life becomes stagnant. I choose happiness and to live each day with zest, spark, and a heart overflowing with love.
More Info About My Practice
I am a Licensed Associate Counselor who earned my Masters of Science in Rehabilitation Counseling from Rutgers University in New Jersey. I have been working as a professional in the fields of mental health and addiction for 10 years. Throughout these years I have had the honor and privilege to work with diverse individuals from all walks of life trying their best to cope with a wide array of various symptoms, personal, societal, cultural, and environmental struggles. I have great respect for the innate strength and courage I see in everyone I have supported, guided, and assisted on their own personal journey of healing and recovery. To me the helping profession is so much more than a career, it is who I am as a person.
