My Approach to Helping
Making changes or coming to terms with events in your life is difficult and can be painful. Suffering is often shouldered by the individual, bearing the weight in private as they struggle to find solutions through trial and error. When you get to that place it helps to have another person by your side who is trying to understand your experience and help you get what you need. My approach to helping is joining my experience to yours and meeting you where you're at in your process of grief, transition, or growth. I will share my knowledge and teach you the skills I know to help you take action or find comfort and peace.
More Info About My Practice
I've come together with many people to work on lots of different types of issues from fear of failure, to ending panic attacks, to moving out from under the crushing weight of a lifetime of abuse, and an exhaustive list of pains we've been able to ease. If you think we might be a good fit I'd encourage you to email me or call to see how we can work on the issue you've chosen to tackle.
I use tools from various schools of therapy in order to find what works best for your mode of learning and processing. My personal style most resembles Mindfulness Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. My focus is on how your thoughts, behaviors, body, and feelings interact in helpful and harmful patterns.
Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With
Working with adults survivors of sexual abuse is a real space of passion for me and I have specialized training and experience working with survivors of rape and molestation. Trauma work is at the heart of where my energy is driven. I would love to help you untangle the web of complex issues and emotions inherent in surviving abuse. I accept Victim Witness/Victim Compensation Funds.
Helping people overcome anxiety is also central to my practice. As an anxiety sufferer myself I've cultivated a lot of tools along the way and tested them out on myself to see how they work. Not every intervention works for every person, but there's sure to be something in my toolbox you can learn to use.
I am LGBT-friendly, poly-friendly, and kink-knowledgeable. I value and respect the diversity of sexual and gender expression that is a natural part of the human experience. If you are experimenting with new sexual expressions, or transitioning in your gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, or sexual pleasures, I welcome you.
I have training in working professionally with members of the Deaf Community and the unique set of concerns they face. I would gladly work with a sign language interpreter or through your preferred means of communication. I am hearing and not CODA, with limited proficiency in ASL.
