Death, deployment, separation, and divorce are among many of life’s losses that can affect a child’s life. Anger, sadness, frustration, loneliness, confusion, and depression are common emotions. If you notice changes in your child's appetite, behavior at school or home, or a lack of interest in things your child once enjoyed, I can help. You might not know what to do to prevent this pain from hurting your child. You might not know what to say. There is hope.

How My Own Struggles Made Me a Better Therapist

A bit about me. I'm a lot like you. I'm a survivor of childhood parental loss and understand the complexities and the strong emotions that families experience during the bereavement of a significant loss.

My personal experience with loss isn't what defines me, I'm a wife, a mother, a sister, a friend, and so much more. I find joy in running, reading, and spending time with friends and family. However, I've learned that grief isn't something you can carry alone. That's why I've chosen to specialize in grief and loss therapy.

I work with children as young as 4 years old up to 18. I meet them wherever they are in the bereavement process- sometimes the loss was recent, sometimes it is a loss that happened years ago. I explore with them their response to their loss and how it is impacting them and their lives. In treatment, I use a variety of treatment techniques including sand tray work, mindfulness, play therapy, and bibliotherapy therapy. No two people experience loss the same way, therefore my approaches are flexible and fluid, and tailored to the individual based on their developmental and emotional needs.
