My Approach to Helping
"I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC), licensed in the state of Georgia with several years of experience working with families, couples, individuals and children. I currently work with individuals; adults, adolescents, and children. My working career began in Early Childhood education prior to becoming a therapist, with experience in parenting education. Working with a vast array of clients having wide ranges of concerns to include crisis intervention, depression anxiety, parenting and psychosis has been a joy. My work in behavioral health has been in the private sector as well as in the hospital setting, working as a therapist on an inpatient psychiatric unit to support individuals experiencing mental health crisis. In addition, my experience includes anger management classes, substance abuse and relapse prevention.
My approach to counseling is from a person-centered perspective. Being a hands-on counselor, I walk with you on the journey to a well-balanced life. We all already have everything needed to succeed in life and counseling is a way to bring it out to guide us. Sometimes we just need help in finding that light within ourselves. Through a combination of dialogic practices, cognitive behavioral therapy and humanistic approaches, together we will work to help you get the best out of your counseling experience.
I find joy working with the Serious and Persistent Mentally Ill (SPMI). I specialize in working with those experiencing psychosis while providing psychoeducation to the family.
Have you ever asked yourself the question of what do you do when you do not know what else to do? Well, I am here to guide you in finding that answer. Life brings many unexpected twists and turns and finding an outlet through counseling is a way to get back on track when life struggles have caused a detour.
I thank you for the opportunity of allowing me to share some of your life stressors and I look forward to the time we will spend together."
