My Approach to Helping
If you are ambivalent about trying tele-therapy, I have some simple tools to make it less uncomfortable and easier to make a personal connection. If meeting a new therapist via video conferencing seems daunting, I would encourage you to give it a try; I myself was skeptical, as it is was not in my comfort zone; however, I have worked very hard to make this modality work.
I have enormous respect for those who ask for help; it's a sign of strength. Therapy is as unique as the people involved, and should be as short as possible or as long as necessary. Growth, like any change, can be scary and sometimes painful, but also rewarding and empowering. Together, we can process difficult experiences, find equilibrium after a traumatic or life changing event, or improve your connectedness with others. A crisis does not change us; it first reveals us and then gives us an opportunity to change.
I specialize in adults struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma and life stressors including grief and loss. I use mindfulness, CBT and psychodynamic modalities. I am also certified in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART). ART is an evidence-based novel psychotherapy that fosters rapid recovery by reprogramming how the brain stores traumatic memories and imagery.
I adore being a therapist. My professional outlook has been influenced by my past experiences working in education and theatre-arts for many years. I work collaboratively with humor and compassion. Let's meet, and if we connect, we can make great changes. I love to see people grow!
