My Approach to Helping

When you are feeling stuck or overwhelmed, it can be helpful to talk with someone outside your circle of family and friends. I work with people who want to change how they're affected by anger, anxiety, depression, and impulsiveness, and people who are healing from traumatic events. I also assist people in dealing with life transitions (school, jobs, relationships, moving), conflict and boundaries with family members, and work or academic stress. Working together, I will aim help you understand yourself better, change unhelpful patterns, and identify strategies to increase your sense of well-being.

I offer a practical, flexible, and sensitive approach that is informed by current research, builds upon your strengths, and reflects your unique needs and life situation. My style is warm, interactive, and collaborative. I have particular strengths with mindfulness-informed therapy, brief therapy, and people who have survived trauma and difficult relationships.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

Having worked on several community college and high school campuses, I have a special interest in working with students of all ages. I am often especially helpful to people who want to heal from tough childhoods affected by physical abuse, sexual abuse, and/or neglect. Additionally, many people pursue services from me because they are interested in Buddhist- or mindfulness-informed therapy.
