My Approach to Helping
Are you seeking help around making changes in your life or gaining some personal understanding? Or are you looking to improve your overall sense of wellbeing? Perhaps you have come up against obstacles to achieving goals in any area of your life such as your health or relationships? Or maybe you simply feel a little stuck. If this is the case, I am here to help. We all deal with struggle sometimes. Beginning therapy can be the initial step in a process of attaining a better self-understanding about the behaviors, beliefs, and thoughts that may be getting in the way of living the life you want and deserve.
I am a Holistic Health Coach and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I offer individual wellness and mental health counseling to adults and adolescents, as well as parental support for caregivers and parents of troubled teens. I am trained in a variety of mindfulness based interventions, which I regularly integrate in to my practice with people to help them be more aware in their everyday lives and to discover patterns of acting and thinking that create obstacles to fulfillment.
More Info About My Practice
Sessions are 50 minutes long. I offer sliding scale rates for those in need and encourage anyone concerned about affordability to call me as we can work out an affordable rate. I am currently an in-network provider for Regence, United Behavioral Health, First Choice Health, Kaiser Access PPO plans, and Premera. I can also work with clients whose insurance companies reimburse for out of network services. Please call if you have questions about how this works.
What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist
I am passionate about being a therapist because I consider it an honor to sit with another person or persons, and provide the space for them to explore themselves and get in touch with their inherent strength and wisdom in the process of gaining the insight necessary to make positive change. I feel that I frequently learn as much from the people I work with in therapy as they do from the therapeutic process. Each individual's struggles are both unique and shared in some way with every human. The therapeutic process offers an opportunity for an individual or family to have a safe space in relationship with the therapist to gain insight in to their struggles and establish a path for working through them. It's by turning towards our discomfort whether mentally, emotionally, or physically, that we can grow and heal, not by ignoring or turning away from it. Therapy offers the opportunity to turn towards it in a safe environment within the context of a supportive relationship with the therapist. I am always in awe of the strength it shows when my clients take this step.
