My Approach to Helping
Sometimes we need another person to help us walk through this life journey, to navigate the pitfalls, emotions and daily decision making processes that inevitably show up. With a focus on how our mind, body and spirit work together, I can help to identify underlying issues and find new ways of being. I have completed Somatic Experiencing Trauma training, and am trained in EMDR, using both along with traditional talk therapy to provide a supportive space for you to create the changes you are seeking, to lead your best life.
More Info About My Practice
My office is located on Loop 360, north of Barton Creek mall (2.8 miles), in a scenic area, looking out into beautiful trees. I have been in private practice for 9 years, and worked in a residential treatment center for drug and alcohol addiction prior to that. I have been a Stephen Minister ion my church since 2000, meeting with individuals who are going through a difficult time. Before working as a therapist I was a CASA, working with children and families in the court system.
My practice is independent, but I work closely with several psychiatrists and other therapists who work on the same floor, providing referrals if needed.
Important Factors for Choosing a Therapist
It can be a daunting process to decide on a therapist, with so many choices out there. It is important to trust your gut feelings first, when choosing a therapist. Skills and areas of knowledge are definitely important, however the human connection has been shown to be the most effective factor in the healing process. As your therapist, I will check in with you periodically, to make sure our sessions are helpful, and addressing your specific needs.
