My Approach to Helping
Do you feel helpless or experience constant worry or lack of sleep? Do you feeling overwhelmed or exhausted and find it difficult to focus? Is a difficult person, or family life stressing you out? My clients come to visit me for a variety of reasons, but the most common ones include: overcoming symptoms of stress and anxiety, improving marital and family relationships, communication skills, parenting challenges, implementing boundaries with extended family, managing blended marriages and families, and building self-confidence.
More Info About My Practice
I use a number of counseling approaches, but the most common approach is one that combines Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) with Person Centered Counseling. The therapeutic relationship is one that is based on unconditional positive regard, empathy and congruence. I provide a safe, confidential place for you to explore how you can achieve a more meaningful life.
Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With
If you are struggling with life transitions or relationship issues, then I believe that I would be the right counselor for you. These are areas that I specialize in and, based on past experience, believe that I can help you make a positive improvement.
I am also an EMDR Therapist. If you are struggling any form of trauma, whether from sexual assault, physical or emotional abuse, EMDR may be the right treatment type to help you make the past become the past.
My Guiding Ethical Principles
I believe strongly in the importance of personal growth. Your thoughts impact both feelings and behaviors, and when we work on your thinking, your feelings and behaviors will change. The psychotherapy relationship must be one that is based on trust and understanding. That is imperative for healing to take place. The nature of our relationship will be a collaborative one where you and I will work together to accomplish your goals.
