My Approach to Helping
Do you find it difficult to turn your brain off? Are you afraid that if other people could see how your mind worked they would think you were crazy or weird? Do you think about past events over and over again? I\'m here to help. Together, we will untangle some of those thoughts so that they are less overwhelming. It\'s scary and exhausting having so much on your mind - I get it! Together we\'re going to untangle it all and get you enjoying your life again.
More Info About My Practice
Over the last fifteen years I have helped a lot of people feel less anxious and scared. I\'ll help you untangle the spaghetti of your thoughts so that we can tackle each item piece by piece. You may discover that some of your thoughts are not crazy, they\'re just exaggerated. And you many find out that many other people have the same type of weird thoughts. I\'ll give you tools you can use when you feel anxious or afraid. If your worry feels like a bully, I\'ll teach you how to fight back. My goal is that you leave each session having learned another new tool, and feeling like you got your money\'s worth. If it feels scary to come see a therapist, don\'t worry. I\'ll make you feel safe, and I\'ll make the process of fighting your anxiety fun.
My Guiding Ethical Principles
I believe that everyone has secrets, everyone has things they're scared of, and everyone is trying to get through life the best way they can. Having a fair and more integrated world is important to me. Treating others with respect and giving everyone a chance are part of my core values. Although I grew up in a fairly traditional family in the UK countryside, I am now a single dad and a foster parent in a non traditional, multi-cultural family in one of the biggest, craziest cities in the world. When I was younger I had my own brushes with anxiety, panic attacks, and personal tragedy. I use these experiences to help me understand the people I meet better, and to help them more effectively. The Duration and Frequency of Therapy
Therapy sessions are 45-50 minutes and can be weekly or less often than that. You will not be locked into weekly sessions if that's not something you want to do!
