My Approach to Helping
I provide mental health services to adults, teenagers, and children. I utilize techniques from evidence-based modalities to address the behavioral, emotional, and relational issues people may have. By staying abreast of the scientific and technological advances in the field, I am able to offer effective, state-of-the-art care to my clients. I build strong, meaningful connections with the people in my care so I can help them to find balance, develop the skills to resolve their issues, and enjoy a healthy, happy life.
I have advanced training in several therapeutic approaches, including dialectical behavior therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and health psychology. I offer empirically-supported treatment for mood issues, anxiety, eating issues, adolescent and child issues, and obesity. My goal is to help my clients learn the skills they need to better manage their personal challenges. In addition to providing clinical care, I enjoy speaking at conferences and publishing articles on mental health.

Dr. Peck completed her pre-doctoral and post-doctoral training at UCSD under leading experts in the field of psychiatry, where she received advanced training in evidence-based treatments. She continues to hold an appointment under the Department of Psychiatry. Dr. Peck is a leading expert in the areas of child and adolescent mental health, eating disorders, and anxiety.

Are you looking for science-based treatment? My mission is to carefully assess my clients and ensure that they are provided with the treatments that have been proven to be most effective. The process begins with an in-depth evaluation, followed by a detailed explanation of my treatment recommendations, including a review of the evidence.

The Duration and Frequency of Therapy
My mission is to provide treatment for individuals for as long as it is needed. Therapy is not a usual part of everyday life and seeing a therapist does not have to be permanent. Though some clients may choose to see a therapist long-term for in-depth reflection and awareness building, therapy can also be short-term and solution-focused. In fact, the majority of evidence-based treatments are intended to be delivered over the course of 6-12 months with success. My mission is to provide guidance, skills training, and a space for reflection and insight building for the time that it is needed. The most important aspect of my role is to help people find and use the skills and support that they need in their lives so that they are no longer dependent on therapy. For some, this may be a few months, and for some, this is longer.
