My Approach to Helping

My name is Stephanie Kregel-Forbes. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (mental health therapist) as well as a Nationally Certified Counselor.

I am motivated and gravitate toward working with families, specifically providing parental support and working tweens/teens. I also greatly enjoy working with adults on various adult and mental health issues. I am passionate about empowering others to realize and nurture and grow their inner strengths and using those strengths to exact action toward healthy lasting positive change.

I work collaboratively with each individual, starting out where each person may be in life and provide a safe space for self-exploration to discover those inner strengths as we move along the path of empowerment and wellbeing. I understand that we each have unique strengths and different life experiences. I will be supportive, encourage empowerment, provide empathy, alternative points of view, and gently push or challenge negative thoughts or behavior patterns that may be keeping individuals stuck.

I believe that people have the ability to change when they are able to fully realize their inner strengths and therefore believe in themselves.

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist

As a mental health therapist, I have the opportunity to work with many different people that are all at different places on their individual journey. It is an honor to be bestowed with trust as each person extends the invitation to bare witness to their life-story and, in doing so, speak their truth on their path to wellbeing. It is truly a gift to be present in the process with others as they grow, accomplish things that were believed to be unattainable, and progress on their journey and throughout therapeutic process. Mental health therapy requires therapeutic work of its participants and, at times, can be difficult, but the product of that hard work, which vary based on the needs and goals for each individual, is what makes the process worth the journey.
