My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy

The purpose of psychotherapy is to help you see the big picture. Often when we are faced with challenges that drain our energy, we begin to sweat the small stuff and lose focus of who we are and what really matters.

The Duration and Frequency of Therapy

I give clients Action Assignments between sessions to speed up their results. In the first session I ask clients what they'd like to work on and generally they see results in 6-12 sessions. But if clients have other goals they would like to work on, therapy can continue beyond. I discuss goals with clients through out the therapy process, but defer to them to determine when they'd like to take a break from counseling.
