My Approach to Helping
When struggling emotionally, you may notice that you often end up on autopilot. You might feel disconnected from the people you love and find yourself becoming so consumed with what’s going on in your head, that you forget to be in the present moment. This leads to a lack of purpose and zest for life. You end up living inauthentically to who you are and who you want to be. These cycling thoughts become increasingly more difficult to overtake and, in the moment, feel impossible to stop. They pull you so far inwards that you lose touch with what’s around you and even scarier with how you respond to the world around you. You may not even recognize yourself. You may feel a disconnect from your body or begin to notice stress related muscle tension and old injuries that begin to flare-up. “What the mind suppresses, the body expresses.”
I’m Steph, and as a Therapist, Yoga Teacher, and Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist I’m here to help you find the best version of yourself that you can be. I take a trauma-informed, client-centered, somatic, and mindfulness-based approach to all of my work and aim to empower my clients through a collaborative process. I also have training in Expressive Arts.
I’m here to tell you that there’s always hope and through challenging, processing, and self-compassion you CAN find freedom in your deepest struggles. My goal is to help you feel more grounded, connected to your body, and living your life through the behaviours, choices, actions and reactions that YOU want to exude.
Similar to the waves of an ocean, we cannot choose the frequency or depth of the waves that come our way but CAN choose how we steer our ship. I understand that taking this step can be overwhelming for some. I am incredibly passionate about the work I do and am here to support you however I can.
