My Approach to Helping
As a holistic therapist and yoga teacher, I help my clients to feel free and at peace in their own skin. I specialize in working with trauma survivors through the process of healing and recovery, as well as working with issues related to identity, relationships, stress, anxiety, and self-esteem. My approach emphasizes mind-body-spirit holism and pulls from understandings of neurobiology, yoga, evidence-based treatment methods, and frameworks of anti-oppression and non-violence.
I have training in sensorimotor psychotherapy, a therapy modality that engages the mind-body connection to heal unresolved trauma, stress, and emotional pain. Sensorimotor psychotherapy emphasizes the body's organic healing capacity, the intuitive relational alchemy that occurs between therapist and client, polyvagal theory's understanding of nervous system biology, and embodied attunement to the present moment. Additionally, I have experience integrating a range of therapeutic methods such as mindfulness based therapy, emotional freedom technique, and motivational interviewing.
Based on your interests, sessions with me may include gentle yoga asana (movement), meditation, breathwork, mindful visualization, andor creative expression. Recognizing that therapy is not one size fits all, I tailor my sessions to each individual I work with.
