My Approach to Helping
I’m a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in California, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in New York, and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. I currently live in CA but previously lived in NY for 23 years, where I received my last 2 Master’s degrees. I have worked with children and adults of all ages in a variety of settings, including a mental health center in New York, a school in the South Bronx, and homeless people in New York City and Rockland County, NY.
I’ve worked with people with dual diagnoses (substance abuse plus a mental health diagnosis), depression, anxiety, bipolar, personality diagnoses, and just normal everyday stress, among others. My approach to counseling is eclectic; I might use cognitive behavioral therapy, mind-body techniques, solution-focused therapy, or talk therapy, depending on my client’s needs at the moment. I’m also a certified yoga teacher and sometimes incorporate breathwork and meditation techniques into my work.
I have three grown "children," so I’m really familiar with many of the bumps and detours they experienced along the way. I was also a professional performer. My "kids" are performers, and I’ve worked with many performers, so I’m very comfortable talking with people about the stresses and demands of a performer’s life, in case that interests you. I’m looking forward to meeting you!
