Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

What you get out of therapy depends on what you put into it. With the right approach, though, I can help you gain more self-knowledge, identify your values, achieve your goals, improve your relationships, resolve ongoing conflicts, learn healthy coping skills, manage anger, address depression or anxiety, improve communication skills, solve marriage and family problems, and boost self-esteem.

How Psychotherapy Can Help

Therapy offers a number of benefits. Therapists offer support, help you solve problems, and enhance your ability to cope with anxiety, depression, unresolved childhood issues, stress, grief, body image concerns, creative blocks, and relationship issues. Many people find that counseling helps them boost personal growth, improve their relationships and family, and cope better with life's challenges. Therapists offer a new perspective on challenging problems, and can often point you toward a solution.

My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy

We all face challenges, and outside help can make a difference when you're stuck. Therapy is designed for people who are emotionally astute - those who have sufficient self-awareness to recognize their need for help. Therapy offers the chance to develop new skills and create lasting change. It will help you identify and reverse unhealthy and damaging patterns.

People seek therapy for many reasons. I work with those facing life transitions, as well as people struggling with anxiety, anger, grief, addiction, relationships challenges, low self-esteem, creative blocks, spiritual challenges, and stressful life circumstances. My clients have found that therapy offers them the encouragement they need, and equips them with the tools to get through challenging periods. People seek psychotherapy so they can tackle life's challenges head-on.

What I Say to People Concerned about the Therapy Process

Because every client has different goals, I tailor my style to suit the needs of each individual client. We'll talk about the current state of your life, as well as your past, including any previous therapy you've attended. Therapy may be short-term and designed to help with a specific issue, or longer-term and designed to help you revamp your entire life. In most cases, I work with clients on a regular schedule, and many clients find that weekly sessions work best. You'll get more out of therapy if you put work into it, so I often recommend "homework" assignments. These assignments might include keeping a journal, reading a helpful book, changing a specific behavior, or monitoring your emotions. I look forward to helping positively change your life, embrace new perspectives, and take responsibility.
