My Approach to Helping
Are you struggling with stress, anxiety, depression, chronic illness, and or trauma? I help people to overcome these emotions by helping them break down and identify what is happening in the body, thoughts, and feelings as well as pointing out patterns in the situations that I observe. My approach is holistic and eclectic, often pulling from the following therapeutic modalities to support people: mindfulness, breath awareness, body-awareness embodiment somatic, trauma-informed, connection between thoughts- emotions- actions. I'm also versed with autoimmune issues, gut issues, and chronic illness.
I am not a ‘purist’ in my approaches, as I weave and pull from my experience and education as I see fit in the therapeutic space.
My biggest asset in therapy is to ‘hold space’ for you so that you safely feel seen, heard, and validated. I am gentle, yet direct, a balance between holding you accountable and providing nurturing. I have a keen ability to explain complicated things into easy to understand concepts while pointing out overarching patterns or belief systems. I am not a highly structured therapist, instead I like to see the flow of the conversation and explore where that leads us.
My general goal in therapy is to help you identify what you need so that you are able to continue on your healing journey, eventually, without my support. I do this by helping you to cultivate self-awareness and expose you to a variety of coping skills. Good fits for me as people ready to make deep changes in their lives who come with an open mind, and prefer more eclectic forms of “treatment” support.
I would be honored to support you on your journey and invite you to schedule a session with me to see if we are a good fit.
