My Approach to Helping
Now offering Brainspotting! Brainspotting is a new model of psychotherapy created to help people overcome negative and traumatic emotions, physical trauma, as well as psychologically-induced physical pain. Brainspotting was created by David Grand, PhD. in 2003 as a result of his work with people who had experienced traumatic events such as Hurricane Katrina, the attacks on the World Trade Center, as well as war veterans. It can also be used to treat addictions, depression, and anxiety. Contact us at 913-258-6146 for more information.
Sometimes trying to pull yourself up by your bootstraps is not enough. It's not easy to reach out for help. Fear of the unknown, preconceived notions about therapy, social stigma and difficulty finding the right therapist are barriers to seeking professional help. However, if you are reading this, you have already taken a step in the right direction and following through could potentially lead you on a journey of self-discovery and personal growth. If you no longer feel like yourself, feel anxious, depressed, living without purpose, feeling numb and disconnected from yourself and others, therapy might be a good option.
I utilize an integrative approach to psychotherapy including CBT, Person Centered Therapy, EMDR, ACT, Reality Therapy, and others. I particularly enjoy assisting clients in trauma processing, challenging negative core beliefs, and developing more adaptive strategies to cope with daily life stressors.
As a therapist, it is extremely important to me that I provide a judgment-free space in which you can learn to challenge and accept yourself. I am dedicated to assisting individuals getting "unstuck" and developing the skills needed to live a more fulfilling and empowered life.
