My Approach to Helping
With nearly 30 years of experience, I have found that the most successful therapeutic outcomes are the direct result of a healthy and healing partnership between my client and myself. It is important for me to listen to and understand what your needs are as well as provide a nurturing, safe and nonjudgemental environment.
My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy
Everyone needs help at some point in their life. Whether it is a temporary issue, a life change that we are trying to work through or a deeper rooted issue, it is beneficial to consult a professional. The purpose of therapy is to acquire a 'toolbox' so that when life gets bumpy, we are better equipped to deal with it. My job is to help clients find which tools work best for them.
Important Factors for Choosing a Therapist
The number one factor is compatibility. The therapist and client should 'click'. I think that when the client is in charge of his or her treatment she will be more invested and more likely to result in a positive outcome. I encourage you, whether you come to me or another therapist, to make an informed decision. Ask questions that are important to you!
