My Approach to Helping
I became a therapist because I wanted to help people feel better about themselves and grow. I started my career in Child Protective services and later moved into the adoptions division and finally I found my place as a full time therapist. I look at all people as individuals and I use a holistic assessment to help guide the treatment plan. I also want your input and I tend to check in periodically to make sure we are on the right track. I tend to be a bit more direct and I often assign in between session practice to develop the skills you learn in counseling and use them in the real world. I want you feel safe and comfortable in my office thus, allowing us to build an alliance and trust with each other. I fully believe that change is possible and sustainable. I am responsive to phone calls and emails.

Important Factors for Choosing a Therapist
When you select a therapist you are sharing your inner most thoughts and fears and you need to know your therapist is fully present and ready to work. The therapist must create for you the space to feel safe and to try on new behaviors. You need a therapist that listens to you and you feel connected with.
What Makes up a Problem?
I believe that the sum of a person's life experience, their genetics and biochemistry all are interrelated and that by changing or effecting one of those factors positive change can and will occur. I do not feel that genetics alone dictate whether or not a person will have a mental health problem. Similarly just a person's life experience does not dictate a mental health concern.I tend to view people more holistically and try to determine how we can effect a positive and sustainable change.
