My Approach to Helping
I have been a licensed social worker for 10 years. I am currently running an Intensive Outpatient Program [IOP]. I have worked extensively in the medical field, in ICUs, oncology, and hospice. I utilize am trauma informed and utilize a strength-based framework, pulling theoriestools from CBT, DBT, positive therapy, person centered therapy, motivational interviewing, and humanistic therapy. I am a member of the LGBTQ+ community, and sex positive.
I graduated with my master's in social work from Columbia University, and until recently worked at major city hospitals in Boston and New York City. I am currently living and working in rural North Carolina. I served in the Peace Corps in St Kitts and Nevis and have a bachelor’s degree in fine art photography. I cut my teeth working with people in some of their most vulnerable moments and have found our core of resilience is a strong center to build on.
I have experiences working with folks ranging from older teenagers through centenarians, grappling with everything ranging from adjusting to a new job to coping with terminal cancer. Life is hard, and my goal with therapy is to make it more endurablemanageable and hopefully *gasp* enjoyable. I am currently taking on new clients on Saturdays only. I look forward to working with you!
