My Approach to Helping
I work with clients from ages 10 and up who are dealing with a variety of mental health issues and life stressors. It is important to me to create a safe, therapeutic environment for the client to process their thoughts and feelings related to the experiences causing the individual stress or emotional pain. I listen with compassion and without judgment. I believe working through the painful experiences that get in the way of living a functional life takes courage. It takes courage to face feelings that are not comfortable to be with. I hope to help each individual to find insight into the patterns in their life that are not working and to find the courage and strength to find the best way to move through the pain in order to be free from it.
More Info About My Practice
I have a cute office space that is cozy and confidential. It often smells wonderful due to the two amazing massage therapists who occupy the other two offices in the same building. The setting is designed to be relaxing and soothing.
My Role as a Therapist
I view myself as a listener, a helper and sometimes a guide. My job is to create a comfortable environment both in the physical space where the session takes place-and-emotionally. I view each client as an individual with their own feelings and perceptions of their life story, disappointments, trauma etc. I want to connect and really hear what you have to say. Sometimes being heard without judgment can be healing just in and of itself. I act as a helper when encouraging a client to come up with what coping skills, interests, support and innate abilities they have to cope while working through painful memories. I am sometimes a guide when helping people navigate their way into a painful memory and guiding them back out to this very moment. Sometimes I follow where the client's story goes in order to hear what could be going on in the person's unconscious mind that is driving their life in a way that prevents growth. I view therapy as a collective experience between client and therapist.
