My Approach to Helping
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor based in Brookhaven Georgia with over 20 years’ experience in the counseling field. Originally from Anchorage Alaska where I earned my undergraduate Degree at University of Alaska Anchorage, and her Graduate Degree Alaska Pacific University. I have been providing therapeutic services to children, teens, adults, and families since 2001.
I see clients for a variety of reasons including divorce, relationships, grief, depression, anxiety, behavioral problems, trauma, life changes, etc. I strive to create a safe and nurturing atmosphere in which individuals can be supported in their efforts to change and grow as well as become reconnected to their strengths and dreams. My education and professional background in coaching, and hypnotherapy gives her a unique and effective approach to counseling. I work to provide clients with tailored treatment plans that can be integrated into their daily lives.
In addition, I have experience in facilitating clinical supervision for individuals, and groups for counselors working on their licensure. I have also supervised interns from Walden University for the past 6 years when there is a need and an opportunity for learning. Clinical supervision is now facilitated via telehealth.
I have a wide range of knowledge skills, and abilities to include being responsible for the evaluation of public health programs for purposes of auditing and developing plans for clinical best practices, and the application thereof. I have also been consulted in past professional relationships regarding formulation of policy or program development, and evaluation, based on the needs of the agency
In addition to providing services as a Licensed Professional counselor, I also have had experience working as a Crisis line responder for the Dept. of Veteran Affairs, a therapist, team lead for Changing Phases Behavioral Support Services in their Methadone clinic providing support through teaching skill building and relapse prevention skills, and group facilitation as well. I have contracted as a clinical supervisor QA supervisor for various CORE agencies, and have also had experience working in the capacity of clinical director. I have experience treating children, adolescents, and adults with diverse backgrounds and ranges of concerns.
I am also a member of the American Counseling Association, Licensed professional counselors of Georgia, and a certified member of the National Board of Certified Counselors. In addition to my LPC license, I continue to educate myself by attending national and local conferences and trainings, keeping up with current therapy research, and seeking supervision.
I have a passion for writing, program development and consultation. My drive only compliments my traits and the visionary I am. I enjoy quiet times on the beach, and spending time with my family.
