My Approach to Helping
I provide culturally relevant counseling to African-American individuals, couples, and families. My approach to helping is one that is theoretically, biblically, spiritually, and culturally based. I utilize a Cognitive Behavioral therapeutic approach that focuses on how maladaptive and dysfunctional thinking affects feelings and behaviors. I work with my clients to help them overcome emotional problems such as depression, anxiety, and anger by teaching them to identify, challenge, and modify cognitive distortions. I also utilize therapeutic approaches that focus on attachment and human relationships.
