How Psychotherapy Can Help
PARENTING IS BOTH A PRIVILEGE & A RESPONSIBILITY
Parenting is one of the greatest journeys that anyone can take. It is also one of the greatest sources of hair loss for men and being over-caffeinated for women. Parenting is an important part of our identity. Often times we define ourselves based on how our children function or how we handled a situation with our kids. Differences in opinions between partners in how to care for our kids, or when our kids declare knowing what is necessary, can bring so much stress and frustration.

My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy
Life can take its toll on our health; our physical and mental health. Studies show that our minds and bodies are connected and it?s not uncommon to experience mental health issues when we?re physically ill and vice versa. Physical or mental illness can do irreparable damage to yourself, your loved ones and your career unless your illness is properly diagnosed and treated.
Counseling and therapy have proven to be highly effective tools to help those suffering from physical or mental wellness issues lead happier, less stressful and productive lives. Therapy helps you cope with and work through the challenges, struggles and changes that may be having a profound effect on your everyday life.
Therapy is a tool available to help you work through any challenges, struggles, or life changes that may be affecting your life. It?s extremely hard to confront these issues on your own and therapy provides a safe, professional and confidential environment to heal and deal with issues that will adversely affect your life if gone unchecked.
Caring, supportive and professional health care experts trained in human behavior, development, psychology, and mental health. Contrary to popular belief, counseling is not a one-way street and it?s not just ?talking? about your issues. You only get out what you put in and the most successful clienttherapist relationship is a mutually beneficial partnership.
How will you know if therapy is for you or not? Professional therapy has helped millions upon millions of people lead happy and productive lives. It saves people from hurting themselves or their loved ones and has proven to be the most effective method of dealing with stress, addiction, hopelessness, anger, depression and just about every other form of mental illness known to mankind.
There?s no doubt that it can help, but you?ll never know if it?s for you unless you give it a try. You?ve Got Nothing to Lose & Everything to Gain! Let's help you get started toward a healthier tomorrow.
How My Own Struggles Made Me a Better Therapist
When I was diagnosed with cancer as a teenager, I remember trying to understand why these changes become too much for some. This disappointment hurt more than my disease itself. At the same time, I was surrounded by unbelievable strength and love from those were my Anchors. I had to fight for ways to confront my feelings of loss and choose to learn to find hope in unexpected ways. My Dad would always say ? EGBOK- everything's gonna be O.K.? This intention more days than most served as a remind to me that hope was always around; I just had to search for it with my Anchors and not face dark times alone. We have to choose what we want our life's healing and story will be.
I understand what it feels like to battle circumstances beyond our control. I am here to say that You have the choice to change and discover better ways to improve your life- IF you want to. Life can only cripple your heart, and destroy your peace IF you allow it to. I understand how the importance of having support from both loved ones and professionals to help get you through the tough times.

Importance of the Client-Therapist Alliance
I am not your average run-of-the-mill counselor. I am unique, caring and an extremely dedicated counselor who is comfortable in her own skin. Without compromise, I always put the needs and best interests of clients above my own. I strongly believes that the most effective and expedient method of receiving positive results through counseling is built around a collaborative client-counselor partnership.
The foundation of the partnership is built around mutual trust, honesty, empathy and understanding, sincerity of purpose and an area of ?realness? between the client and the counselor. Counseling is not meant to feel like an obligation, it is a place where clients can be who they really are. The area of realness is genuine open space where you have been invited to be ?real? with your counselor. I believe that it doesn?t care what you say or how you say it as long as you feel safe in doing so.
Some of the most ?real? conversations that you will have in your entire lifetime will be with your counselor and if you can?t be real with them, who can you be real with? My unique understanding of what works and doesn?t work for clients and the benefits of counseling are beyond the reach of client?s who don?t form a strong connection with their counselors.
The connection between a client and their counselor is far more important to the long-term success of counseling than the counselor?s education, degrees, training or knowledge will ever be. The research on the topic is crystal clear and the #1 determining factor in whether or not a client gets better from counseling or therapy is based on how strong their relationship is with their counselor. If you don?t like your counselor, you?re not going to get better, regardless of how well-trained your counselor is.
