My Approach to Helping
Do you struggle with anxiety, depression or just the daily demands of living in general? Have you been traumatized and just want to begin moving forward? Is there an addiction that you can’t seem to kick? If so, look no further, Shannon Chavis spent the better part of 2 decades helping others navigate life’s challenges.
Shannon Chavis is an individual founded on hard work and dedication. With over 15 years of counseling experience, Shannon continues to work towards professional growth. Shannon is a self-directed and highly driven individual that seeks to maximize efforts in all endeavors. Shannon has come to be known as a person of integrity, with a high energy personality and a strong desire to help others in need.
Shannon has long taken the approach that there are multiple ways for one to engage the healing process. The key is finding the way that is most effective for you. Shannon places large value in the therapeutic alliance and understands the importance of trust in establishing and maintaining therapeutic relationships. Influenced by Christian values, Shannon has always maintained compassion for the human spirit. This has motivated Shannon’s desire to offer help to those who may experience difficulty with adaptive functioning.
In servicing vast socioeconomic client populations, Shannon recognizes that no single treatment modality is conducive for all clients. With this in mind, Shannon has made it a priority to familiarize himself with a range of treatment approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Dialectal Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Reality Therapy and a somatic approach to the treatment of trauma.
My educational background includes a MS in mental health counseling from Capella University and a BS in psychology from Florida Agriculture & Mechanical University. Shannon is also a Certified Addiction Professional specializing in the treatment of substance abuse. Shannon has been afforded the opportunity to provide treatment services throughout the continuum of care as he has worked in all treatment environments.
Shannon looks forward to working with anyone who is prepared to engage the journey of healing. Remember, he’s only a phone call a way.
