My Approach to Helping

Professional counseling and therapy are all about learning to let go of the behaviors and beliefs that are causing you to feel frustrated, stuck, or in pain, and intentionally creating the change necessary to achieve the rewarding relationships and life you desire.

Whether you've been in therapy before or are still looking for a therapist who can truly help you understand and resolve the issues you're experiencing, you may not know what questions to ask a prospective therapist. If so, don't worry, you’re far from alone, and I want to make that process easier for you.

Unfortunately, people often pick a therapist "out of a hat." But the effectiveness of counseling and psychotherapy are largely determined not by how many letters a therapist has after his or her name, but by the trust and rapport the two of you develop together.

So, might we be a good fit for working together? I'll let you decide.

What I can tell you is that I understand how unresolved trauma often lies at the core of many of the problems we face – anxiety, stress, depression, relationship issues, etc. – and I know just how debilitating trauma can be ... I also know that help and healing ARE possible!

My interest in mental health and wellness started early in life, after going through countless hours of unsuccessful therapy sessions, trying to navigate the mental health care system, and deciding there has to be a better way.

After years of self-discovery and thousands of hours of professional training, I've come to realize just how important it is to integrate our whole beings (mind, body, and spirit) in order to create true healing. Accordingly, I've created a unique, well-balanced and holistic approach to counseling and psychotherapy that incorporates various somatic, experiential, and body-oriented therapy techniques – such as EMDR, the Hakomi Method, and Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy – all of which I've found to be particularly effective in helping people overcome trauma and PTSD and move forward in their relationships and lives with confidence and optimism.

I've come to call this unique way of helping clients Beyond Words Psychotherapy ... because true healing isn't achieved through talking alone.

When you're ready to achieve clarity, regain a sense of control, heal from the unresolved traumas that are keeping you stuck and holding you back from creating the best relationships and life possible, realize your full potential, and live a more joyous, authentic life, I encourage you to visit my website or schedule a free consultation. I congratulate you on your courage and commitment to create the change you seek, and I look forward to helping in any way I can!

Groups I Work With

Many of the people I help every day come to me seeking professional counseling and psychotherapy because they're struggling with some type of single incident or long-term trauma or PTSD.

Even those who are trying to cope with and overcome other issues, such as anxiety, stress, depression, or relationship difficulties, often find the problems they're experiencing are caused (at least in part) by the defense mechanisms they've developed to protect themselves from prior trauma.

This is why I've undergone extensive research and training in various body-centered, somatic, and experiential therapy techniques – such as EMDR, Internal Family Systems, and the Hakomi Method – that I've found to be particularly effective in helping people overcome trauma and PTSD, so they can move forward in their relationships and lives with confidence and optimism.
