My Approach to Helping
I offer radical psychotherapy for people that look great on paper, but still wonder, "Am I enough?" Ambient addictions, feelings of emptiness, nagging shame, and that unrelenting, critical voice create layers of static around more and more of us. Psychotherapy is radical when it reveals the deeper roots of your current issues, doesn't seek to fit you into a societal mold, and helps you find your voice in this world.
Whether you are coping with pervasive anxiety, rocky relationships, works tensions, insides and outsides that don't match, or a gray cloud that seems to follow you about: more is possible. You can begin to occupy your body and your life, even if you have been sleepwalking for far too long. My clients tend to be professionals, overachievers or underachievers, intellectuals, artists, activists, and soft-hearted, but span all walks of life. They are often overt or covert nonconformists, struggling to heal hurt or disempowerment in their relationships.
As a Harvard-trained and holistic-graduate-school refined psychotherapist, I am an intellectual-holistic mashup, blending the intellectual and analytical with the mindful and embodied. It is a powerful alchemical combination, and involves Jungian, psychoanalytic and psychodynamic methods combined with deep mindfulness. This means we unearth the roots of what ails you, then work to accept and transform these themes in real time, with the body and imagination as guides.
My style is a blend of radical acceptance -- of ALL of your parts and experiences -- and gentle challenge. I challenge you to go deeper, to actualize, and to question your most basic assumptions, always with a backdrop of unconditional compassion.
