Marriage and Family Counseling of Hawaii is a small group of local, caring, and knowledgeable therapists committed to the people of Hawaii. We specialize in couple and family dynamics focusing on creating new awareness's of the self and others using Attachment Theory, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and Structural Family Therapy. We take broken relationships and help people understand what went wrong and how to rebuild. We get inspiration from each client and what they bring to the table. We help them understand where their triggers are coming from and teach them how to give and receive love in the way they really want it.

Sandee Villeza, MFT, CSA, is a certified substance abuse counselor, a licensed marriage and family therapist, and the owner of Marriage and Family Counseling of Hawaii. She holds a bachelor of business administration and a master of marriage and family therapy. She is a member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists.

Sandee believes that people get “stuck,” and may need help getting unstuck to move on in life. She once felt stuck in a destructive relationship pattern with her husband. Then, she discovered attachment theory. It changed her marriage. She has helped people through domestic violence, family court, and custody battles, so is uniquely equipped to help couples and families understand and resolve their conflicts. She is also extensively experienced at working with military families. When you work with Sandee, you work with a curious, down-to-earth, and committed person who understands the challenges of relationships. She thinks outside the box, creatively implementing strategies to address her clients’ needs. She is passionate about helping others, and that passion is contagious. With Sandee, you have an encouraging and supportive partner as you work to make lasting change.

What I Usually Need to Know to Help

Coming to therapy can evoke multiple emotions such as fear, anxiety, and skepticism. In my experience getting to the root of the problem is often the most sustainable option as the person's awareness is now heightened. I would like to know your insight of what you believe the problem is, how long do you believe it takes to change, and how I can best help. Understanding these things will give us a better starting point in order to address the problem in the most effective way.
