My Approach to Helping
I empower individuals to create, as opposed to discover, themselves and move to a place of self-acceptance by helping them learn to more efficiently manage life; overcoming past and current obstacles in order to move forward, becoming active participants in their own lives. I work to instill hope and motivation in adolescents and adults of all ages. My specialized training has included eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) and accelerated resolution therapy (ART). I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and a Certified Addiction Professional in the state of Florida. I also am a Qualified Supervisor for Registered Mental Health Counselor Interns.
I have worked in a variety of environments including high school, college, inpatient residential treatment, and outpatient treatment. I utilize solution-focused therapy, motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), human centered therapy, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), and accelerated resolution therapy (ART) in my work with clients.
My experience has been in working with individuals struggling with stress management, anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, relationship issues, substance abuse addiction, and grief loss.
