My Approach to Helping

I like working with individuals with a wide array of problems including: depression, anxiety, anger, grief, trauma, relationship problems, behavioral disorders, substance abuse, impulse control problems, low self-esteem, low self-confidence, family problems, life skills deficits, career problems, and problems with decision-making.

I have an eclectic approach and I am skilled at cognitive-behavioral therapy, interpersonal therapy, psychodynamic therapy, existential therapy, reality therapy, grief therapy, and family therapy. I also am experienced at providing a wide variety of therapy groups including: depression, anxiety, anger, grief, trauma, chronic pain, and substance abuse.

I provide therapy in a supportive, patient, and motivating manner. I do thorough assessments so that I can truly understand your situation and work with you to find solutions to your problems. Lastly, I try to create an individualized, specific treatment approach for each client.

I love being a psychotherapist because I get the opportunity to witness the positive changes in my clients' lives. Groups I Work With

    I work with people from the following age ranges: children (above the age of 5), adolescents, adults, and the elderly. I am very experienced with treating emotional regulation problems (e.g. depression, anxiety, anger, jealousy, grief, etc.). Furthermore, I have a great deal of experience working with people who have chronic health problems like diabetes, multiple sclerosis, brain injuries, cancer, etc. I also am skilled at couples and family therapy.

    I also provide the following therapy groups:
    Depression Recovery
    The Depression Recovery group is a psychoeducational, open-ended group designed to help the participants develop the knowledge and skills to overcome their depression. It utilizes techniques from Cognitive-Behavioral and Interpersonal Therapy to help the participants recover. It also is a good place to get support and stop feeling alone with your problems. The group will help you to realize that a better life awaits you. The fee is $20 per session.
    Anxiety Recovery
    The Anxiety Recovery Group is a psychoeducational group designed to give the participants the tools necessary to recover from a wide variety of anxiety disorders including: obsessive-compulsive disorder, PTSD, phobias, panic disorder, etc. The group utilizes a cognitive-behavioral approach and employs techniques like exposure therapy, guided imagery relaxation training, and EMDR. We also will devote part of the group time to processing feelings and working through traumatic memories. This group will be a useful resource for anyone working on recovering from an anxiety disorder.
    Anger Management Group
    The Anger Management Group is a psychoeducational group designed to give the participants the tools necessary to learn how to express their anger in a constructive manner. The group utilizes a cognitive-behavioral approach and employs techniques like assertiveness training, developing healthy boundaries, communication skills, cognitive-restructuring, and guided imagery relaxation training. The group will also include processing feelings and working through traumas. This group will be a useful resource for anyone who is working on recovering from anger management problems.
