My Approach to Helping

Are you looking for a change that lasts? Do you want more than superficial bandages on your emotional wounds? Do you want growth that is powerful and sustaining? Think about what it would be like to (re)discover your own identity apart from others and even in the midst of difficulties or chaos.

I am convinced that healing the effects of distressing experiences requires an internal process . . . more than just talk therapy can provide. Talk therapy is useful. It can provide a release, and people often gain insight while talking about and processing the issues in their lives. Sustaining change, however, usually comes from healing your emotional wounds and trauma. There are certain types of therapeutic models that promote lasting change by carefully approaching the deep internal emotional pain and lovingly and respectfully offering healing of those wounds.

I can assist you with that.

"Why do I do what I do, even though I know it's not very helpful for me?" "Why do I feel these emotions so strongly?" You actually have the answers to these questions inside you. Whether you realize this or not, you know yourself better than anyone else does. I can help you uncover and discover your true self.

I have the experience to guide you in a therapeutic process that can promote healing changes and give you a fresh, new understanding of who you are in relationship with yourself and with others.

Human beings with our varied, complex life stories often require more than quick fixes have to offer. Often, quick fixes (like fad diets) don't produce sustaining change. They may work for a little while, but then you find you're dealing with the same issue over and over again. Change that heals is a progressive work - it takes time, energy and courage, but the benefits are lasting. Change can also be sort of scary. And that's one reason why therapy moves at a pace that feels comfortable for each individual.

More Info About My Practice

My standard rate is $140 per 50-minute session, paid at the time of service. I may provide a sliding scale rate for those who need it and when lower rate space is available.

I am not currently on any insurance panels and I am considered an out-of-network provider. I can provide a super-bill for those who request it to submit to their PPO insurance provider for partial reimbursement.

I am certified in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) - a specialized therapy that can help alleviate the effects of traumatic and difficult life experiences. For more information about EMDR please go to the official EMDRIA website. I am also certified in IFS (Internal Family Systems), an evidence-based, therapeutic model that is a gentle and effective healing process. Find out more about EMDR and IFS at my website listed under my photo.

On the Fence About Going to Therapy?

Many times you can work through problems and relationship issues on your own or with a friend or family member. Sometimes, though, you come to the point where you recognize the difficult issues are either staying the same or possibly becoming worse.

I will meet you wherever you are in your story. You will feel safe with a caring and respectful therapist who has no agenda except to help you gain calm, clarity and connection, and to feel whole again.

You may email or call me, even if you only have questions about therapy. I will be happy to answer any questions I can, and you won't be pressured into making an appointment! I hope you take the opportunity to connect with me.
