My Approach to Helping
I have been a therapist for 14 years. I am biracial, Latina, a woman of color, and an immigrant from South America. I have worked with trauma survivors from different backgrounds, ages, races, incomes, languages, LGBTQ, war victims, homeless, schizophrenic, bipolar, refugees, and individuals of several different countries and belief systems. I have learned that an "Eternal Curiosity" is the most helpful tool to effectively serve our clients. I've learned also that clients of different cultures and countries appreciate having a clinician asking for their experience. "Their way to see the world."
I am trained in evidenced-based cognitive behavioral therapy, (CBT) parent child interaction therapy, trauma focused CBT, motivational interviewing and emotional focused therapy (EFT) with individuals, couples, and families.
I received my Masters of Arts in psychology from JFK University in 2009 and have been licensed since 2013.
