My Approach to Helping

As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Somatic Psychotherapist I strive to support you in transforming your unique challenges into opportunities for growth.

I specialize in supporting individuals and couples in developing more fulfilling relationships with oneself and with one another. It is not uncommon to feel 'stuck' and confined by the narratives and past events in your life and getting to know yourself in a more intimate way provides a personal groundwork to make participatory choices in shaping your life in a conscious direction moving forward. This supports individuals in moving beyond being victims of habit towards being empowered agents in creating a more satisfying life. Simply put: the greater you know yourself, the more choice you have in creating the life you desire.

I look forward to supporting you on this sacred journey of self discovery.

More Info About My Practice

Somatic psychotherapy is a branch of psychology that not only uses traditional methods of talk therapy but also includes body awareness and self engagement as a means of working with an individual as a whole person (body and mind). A majority of our communication with others and experiences of ourself take place on a non-verbal level - giving attention to this holistic dynamic allows the focus of treatment to give emphasis to 'HOW' we make practical changes in our lives rather than limited to only understanding why things are the way they are. Focusing on the 'how' is an invitation into the present and practical moment, and what better place to enact personal growth and change than from the present?

Additionally, I incorporate Eastern approaches to psychology into my therapeutic work including mindfulness and psychological principles of yoga. These serve as tools to increase self awareness and can support individuals in building skills of self care.
