My Approach to Helping

Hello, and thanks for checking out my page! I am a queer-identified therapist and welcome all intersections of identity in my feminist-based practice. I use interventions based in neurobiology to promote growth and healing, and would be honored to support you in your therapy goals. Though I have training and experience to treat a variety of concerns, I believe that you are the ultimate expert on your own life.

My clients often are overwhelmed with feelings of inadequacy. Together, we'll help you tap into your own values and beliefs to help you realize that you ARE enough, just as you are. I use an eclectic variety of approaches including: mindfulness, self-compassion, existential therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to support folks in healing from anxiety, trauma, and substance use concerns.

I specialize in working with professionals who work in the technology, computer science, web development, and programming industries of all backgrounds with burnout, isolation, anxiety, exclusion, imposter syndrome, substance use, and other concerns. I also enjoy supporting self-motivated high schoolers struggling with anxiety and or identity issues, and their families. Wherever you are, you are deserving of this journey to become your best self. I look forward to speaking with you.

More Info About My Practice

I have been working in mental health since 2012 and opened my private therapy practice in February 2021. I provide telehealth therapy using a HIPAA-secure virtual platform for residents of North Carolina. I will be available for in-person sessions in Asheville beginning in April 2021, with COVID-19 precautions in place. My practice is LGBTQIA+ affirming and anti-racist.

Update: As of March 2021, I am able to provide telehealth therapy for residents of Maine. I've been issued a temporary, emergency license to practice under Maine Governor Executive Order 35 issued April 6, 2020. I look forward to offering Mainers short-term counseling for support in coping during this difficult time. Visit my website, or contact me for more information.

How My Own Struggles Made Me a Better Therapist

I am thrilled to see this prompt on a directory site! I have had personal experiences with intense anxiety and continue to attend my own therapy sessions when needed. My experiences of anxiety and being "in the other seat" has given me additional perspective in how to approach my clients with the sensitivity and respect they deserve. I continue to be inspired by my clients' resilience, and will never judge you for your concerns.
