My Approach to Helping
The therapeutic relationship is a significant predictor of successful outcomes in therapy. Tools and techniques are absolutely necessary for change. However, creating a space that allows for that to be received and put into practice takes skill and experience.
My practice areas for individual therapy include relationship challenges, academic and career management, childhood trauma, as well as an intergenerational disconnect. As an Indian-Caribbean therapist, I can understand what it's like to be an immigrant and part of a group that isn't well-known.
Sometimes, external pressures and expectations can drive our decisions instead of our own core values. I enjoy helping individuals examine and re-write their narratives and learn how to make choices that are more aligned with their beliefs.
